Timothy Nankervis

timTim has recently enrolled into the Degree of Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Melbourne with David Berlin. Previously he completed a Masters Degree for which he held a Melbourne Research Scholarship. After being selected in 2000 as the most outstanding string player at the Advanced Performance Program at the Australian National Academy of Music.he was given the opportunity to perform Tchaikovsky’s ‘Roccoco Variations’ with the State Orchestra of Victoria. Tim has also performed the Elgar Cello Concerto with the Sydney Symphony as part of their Young Artists Program. Tim has won numerousprizes and awards for cello performance and chamber music, including the Sir DavisMartin Chamber Music Prize, culminating in a recital at the Sydney Opera House. He is now a casual member of the Melbourne, Sydney and Tasmanian Orchestras. After being awarded a Big Brother Scholarship in 1995, Tim studied with William Pleeth and Raphael Wallfisch at the Guildhall School of Music in London. In 1998 Tim completed his Bachelor of Music (dist) at the Australian Institute of Music studying with Lois Simpson. In 1999 he took up a scholarship to study at the Tchaikovsky National Academy of Music in Kiev under Vadim Chervov. Tim’s other teachers include Georg Pederson, Denise Lawrence and Nelson Cooke.
